Frequently Asked Questions

Wedding FAQ:

Will you meet with us before the wedding?
Absolutely!  I meet with each couple before diving in to paperwork.  I want to get to know the two of you over some coffee.  If your wedding date is quite a long time out, we may meet again to go over details and get everything hammered out.

Are you insured?
We are covered with iability through the Professional Photographers of America for our protection, for your protection and for all of our gear!

What equipment do you use?
I shoot a Canon 1Dx and a Canon EOS 5D Mark II as a backup, with a range of Canon Professional-grade lenses, plus various on-location lighting systems.  The team and I carry a full set of backup gear to ensure your day is covered. Our main cameras utilize dual card slots to ensure your images are safe from the get go!

How will you back up our precious memories?
Hardcore nerd style – that’s how! We run dual memory card cameras for instant redundancy. Back at the office, your images will be saved to four local drives, then to our 36TB server, and then finally to five cloud storage locations. Our server runs on it’s own clean power circuit, the LAN is filtered for noise and the whole server lives in huge safe. Lastly, your day’s memory cards which are housed in another safe, are not formatted and reused until you receive your images!

Do you shoot Black & White, Color, or Both?
Shooting digital gives us the ability to shoot both without loss of either.  Every image is captured in color, which gives us the option of converting any image to black and white.

Will you travel for us?
My team and I travel all over the state of Wisconsin and across the nation.  Overnight stays may have to be  provided so we can start your day with you.  Destination Weddings are sweet, please contact me for details!

I want an awesome sparkler exit at the end of the night, can you help?
Absolutely!  We have done them in the past and have some requests.  You need a point person to help us coordinate the exit and get your guests ready.  I suggest a neat note on each table to inform your guests about your special exit. You need to purchase REAL sparklers.  Do not stop at the store a buy some 99 cent ones, it is an investment – I suggest:  https://www.sparklersonline.com  Please order the 36″  ones.  Lastly, make sure I have the exit in your notes so I can bring the MAPPS blow torch. 🙂

Will you lower your prices to stay within our budget?
Not only do we provide the results, my team and I provide a wedding day EXPERIENCE that will not be forgotten by you and your guests.  As you shop and do research for your wedding photographer; it is worth remembering that prices reflect experience, talent, and resources involved in producing your wedding day.

What is the booking fee?
Your booking fee is one half, a third or a quarter of your retainer amount, and it applies to the full balance.  The final payments are stretched over the time between booking and your wedding day.  If you decide to move up or postpone your date, I will work with you to make it happen.

What forms of payments do you take?
Cash, check, and credit card with a 4% processing fee.

About how many pictures will you take during our wedding?
Of course every wedding is different, but if we spend the day with you we will easily shoot more than 2,500 photos. That may seem like an overwhelming number of images but rest assured I will not simply dump them all in your lap. Part of my job is to narrow them down, eliminating things like repetitive shots or people with their eyes closed, before presenting you with a set of hand edited photos.  Typically the Final Collection if images is between 900 and 1,200 images.

I found a list of seven dozen “must have” shots on the internet. Should I print it out for you so you’ll know what to I want shot?
I have that list memorized already. Most of the things on the list happen at most weddings. What I would love to know from you is what is not on that list. Tell me about your VIPS, the unexpected, unusual and wonderful things that will make your wedding unique.
